May meeting
Terry Marquez and Karen Almond-Pile joined me May 19 at the Wine Cellar to discuss Elizabeth Gilbert's "Committed," a sequel to her "Eat, Pray, Love" adventure. We agreed that Gilbert's book included a prolific amount of research into marriage in all cultures and of all time. That alone would make a compelling story but Gilbert adds a personal touch with her relationship to a foreign man she had met in her travels. A small but nice get together and next month we will meet on June 16, location to be determined but somewhere downtown. Hopefully a new member to join.

Christmas Celebration!
Hi book gabbers. For the month of December, we've decided not yet to tackle another memoir but to instead meet to celebrate the season with a gourmet dinner at LesliAnn Raper's new house at 360 North Bethesda Road. Cost is $20 per person and (my new boyfriend) chef Andrew will be preparing us heavy appetizer-type courses with the accompanying wines. So I hope to see you all on Friday, Dec. 11 at 6 p.m. Please feel free to bring your husband or an adult guest.

Fast forward food
At our October meeting, members Terry, Katrina, Jan and I met to discuss "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" and talked about the role "healthy" food plays in life. It seems that convenience is key and we decided there needs to be a fast-food healthy restaurant. We were all impressed and motivated by the forward food thinking that's in our current Kingsolver read. Enjoyed the discussion and will enjoy finishing up the book next month.

Been Awhile...
Wow, ladies. It sure has been awhile since I updated this page :). Now, we've just finished Three Cups Of Tea and are meeting Thursday evening at the Wine Cellar to discuss and pick our new memoir. I hope to see Terry, Katrina, Deb, Linda, Kristin and Melanie there. Let's sit down, sip a glass of wine and talk about our latest read and then pick our next read. All suggestions and comments welcomed and encouraged.
